Edit from my PC - application choice

If I've once selected Word (or LibreOffice Writer), how can I reset the choice and switch to the/an other software, i.e. siwtch between MS Office and LibreOffice? (I know I am supposed to always be able to choose in Firefox, but imagine I am working with Chrome). Is this a cookie somewhere?

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit?
