External links in GoFAST

It is not essential but would be nice to have the possibility to add a title to external links.
Just imagine we use external links to something with a URL pattern similar to that of GoFAST: "https://mydomain.com/?pageid=123", where pageid=123 contains supporting information to topic x and pageid=356 I also want to link contains the legal background for topic x. It would be very handy to not just display the "permalink"

The automatic display would already be great, that works very well with well structured modern sites (like this forum, or I looked at our own public website, and even our financial software).
Replacing that manually or adding an additional label would still be very helpful. It is typical that in a DMS like GoFAST you have internal documents with references to internal, often legacy apps that do not have varying names. It could also be that you use a link to information in a different language; replacing such a label coming from a page title with a reference in a language shared by the readers would help, even for those readers who could not themselves understand the contents of the actually linked page. However, I leave it to you to see if that is complicating matters too much; as I wrote, just having the page title displayed would be a good help.

Thanks for your feedback, it has been decided that a first update of external links will be made for version 4.2.0, it will implement the automatic display of the title of the destination page.
However, we've created a new internal ticket so that we can further improve these links in a future version, with the addition of greater customizability. -

Just to clarify: will this be part of version 4.2.0, or part of a patch for 4.2.0 (i.. 4.2.1 or so)? Would that require changes in security (allow GoFast server 1 HTTPS access to Internet, for example)? Or would that be fetched by the user's browser in some script at the moment of link creation?

Sorry for the delay in replying,
The initial development did not take into account the different server configurations, because to retrieve data from websites, requests are sent from the server to the various external link sites. However, if for some reason requests to external sites were blocked, the automatic display would not be possible.
This is why, after an internal discussion, external link customization will also be added in version 4.2.0 (not in a patch).
